In 1980, Frank Albi incorporated BIS, the first off-site records center in the Tri-State area.

BIS has two Records Centers. BIS’s Executive Offices and largest archives are housed in its Queensgate Records Center located at 2201 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45214-1723. BIS’s Downtown Records Center is located at 318 West Third Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202.

BIS’s two Record Centers contain more than 600,000 cubic feet of archives space.

Since 1980, nearly 1.5 million boxes of records have moved in or out of BIS.

BIS stores approximately 800 billion documents. Laid end-to-end, those documents would reach to the moon roughly 62 times.

The combined weight of all the documents stored by BIS is 5.5 million tons.

To move all the documents stored at BIS would require a convoy of fully loaded semi-trailer trucks stretching more than three miles from end-to-end.

BIS provides off-site storage for nearly 80,000 computer tapes.
